Frank Saxton - Biography

Born in Long Island, New York, Frank Saxton began his career as a saxophone player at the age of 12. At 16, he was playing in jazz clubs and at 18 became a member of the U.S. Army Band. This was followed by 3 years with the Halifax Symphony in Canada.

When his three year contract ended, he returned to New York to play on Broadway shows, including Mame, Maggie Flynn, Follies 1776, and work at Radio City Music Hall. Tired of New York high taxes, Frank decided to move to Las Vegas where he stayed for 28 years playing in shows for more than 70 top stars.

Working two years in the Frank Sinatra West Orchestra at Caesar's Palace, he then moved to the Desert Inn, where he was spotlighted saxophone soloist for "Sophisticated Ladies" Broadway Show. He played for many stars, including Tony Bennett and Sammy Davis Jr. Frank has appeared with numerous Big Bands, including Si Zetner, Larry Elgart, Bob Crosby, and Jimmy Dorsey.

While working in Las Vegas, Frank studied voice and piano and in 1988 he changed his career to performing as a vocalist and entertainer in the many Las Vegas hotels, lounges, and convention shows. He has also travelled extensively in the west and abroad. In 2002, Frank moved to Lexington, Kentucky, and entertained in supper clubs and for private parties. He also performed at the Rising Star Casino in Indiana. He now lives in Tennessee, where he has recorded a new CD in Nashville, in which he sings and plays the saxophone.
